Welcome to Eastwood Writers
We are a group of
like-minded people with an interest in creative writing. We
meet on Monday afternoons (term time only) in
Woodfarm
School Thornliebank,
from 2-15 until 4-15 pm,
or, if you were born after 1970, between 1415 and 1615 hours.
The group comprises mostly amateur writers, and although many of
us have been published, none of us could be considered household
names. The aim of the group is to encourage fellow members to
extend and improve their writing skills. This we do by setting
a varied syllabus with a range of weekly exercises. For
instance, one week it could be a short story on a particular
subject, another, an article on a topical issue. Weeks
featuring poetry, drama and children’s stories give each member
a chance to shine in his or her speciality, but the main
purpose of the syllabus is to encourage members to attempt
writing in different genres. It’s amazing what you can do when
you try.
The club is affiliated to the Scottish Association of Writers,
or
SAW.
Our
club has been in existence for 25 years (see
HISTORY) and we hope to continue
for at least as long again. For that reason we welcome new
members and hope you’ll benefit from our experience and enjoy
our company.
